Introducing The Herringbones:
This gorgeous woollen tweed is one of twelve exclusive fabrics that form the new Heart of Huddersfield Collection for 2022. Hot off the looms and manufactured by Fabworks, from yarn through to weaving and finishing this bespoke beauty has been made in Yorkshire mills by Yorkshire folk! The HoH 2022 collection features two different coloured warps. Six of the twelve herringbones feature a soft misty grey warp, that form the Mist Herringbones. (The other six feature a dark stormy grey warp and form the Storm Herringbones.)

Yorkshire Lavender was inspired by the breath-taking beauty of the Yorkshire lavender fields. Yorkshire has two areas that are full of lavender, vibrant and alive with the industrious humming of its pollinators where neat rows of tidy shrubs sit, with spikes of fragrant purple flowers like the harmonious repetition of chevrons through this gorgeous herringbone.
The cool lavender weft yarn alongside the signature stormy grey warp showcases the classic herringbone weave, producing an overall tone of cool purple lilac. Smart undertones thanks to the signature stormy grey warp give a confident style, dark and thought-provoking. Add those cool and cleansing colours of the fragrant lavender fields to your A/W wardrobe and team with the turquoise and teal jewel hues of Kingfisher Flash - Storm Herringbone for the perfect combination of bespoke separates in a super smart style.
Why not pair with our Thunderbridge Storm 2 - Marled Melton.
The Herringbones are a collection of closely woven, versatile fabrics with a medium weight and a gentle woolly feel that boasts a stable handle and drape to be trusted to form pretty gathers. Perfect for a plethora of sewing room projects, the Mist & Storm Herringbones will always do as they are told. Wool of this kind is easy to sew and will stand the test of time.
Wool fabric has been used in garment manufacturing for generations. Did you know the first recorded piece of woollen clothing was produced over 10,000 years ago? These Yorkshire Tweeds are timeless classics, with their medium weight allowing for exceptional versatility in both clothing, craft and light soft furnishings.

Sewing with this gorgeous fabric was a pleasure from start to finish and it was just the right weight for this coat. The wool steamed well to shape and to press the seams with the aid of a clapper. The colour is a delicate lavender hue over the grey, making it classic and pretty at the same time. I used Magenta melton for the undercollar and one of the gorgeous designer linings too. I can recommend this Heart of Huddersfield herringbone highly enough. In fact, I´m putting in an order for another coat.
Making bags and this fabric is simply divine. Not cheap but really gorgeous colour and perfect for my requirements.
