Ironstone Check - Yorkshire Tweed is a premium all-wool tweed. Manufactured in Huddersfield undergoing the same processes as our exclusive Heart of Huddersfield range

Woven from a delightful blend of multi-tonal yarns, this fabric is full of versatile grey and cream hues, inspired by the solid limestone of the Yorkshire Hills. Solid, reliable and trustworthy like the Yorkshire people that man the looms to make this first-rate fabric. Grey-toned fabrics are a go-to forming the mainstay of most people's wardrobes,  and the addition of fresh natural cream makes for a classic combination.


Ironstone Check alternating vertical and horizontal bands of heathered limestone -grey and natural cream intertwined with a soft mustard yellow,  woven in a traditional twill to create a very smart and versatile check


This closely woven woollen fabric has a versatile medium weight and a traditional woollen feel that boasts a stable handle that drapes reassuringly with the promise of cosy warmth. It’s the perfect fabric for a plethora of sewing room projects and it will always do as it’s told. Wool of this kind is easy to sew and will stand the test of time.

Shift dresses and pinafore dresses are super comfy and make key pieces. When your sewing skills are more established, try classic jackets, coats and capes. Add multi-toned, horn-type buttons to your makes, picking out the tones of grey for an individual style.
