Introduction:

Black Cat - Furnishing Velvet is a wonderfully soft and malleable fabric with a delicious drape. Lovers of classic rich and warming tones will appreciate this dramatic black velvet.

This velour-velvet is created in a fine close gauge. Boasting a super soft short semi-lustrous pile, and is stable width and lengthwise. 

A reassuring medium-heavy drape provides luxurious style opportunities. Although this fabric is not from the same origins as our other deluxe plain velvets it will sit with the harmonious range of solid colours in that range and is the perfect accompaniment to our Deluxe Printed Velvets to create points of interest and provide a break in otherwise busy schemes.

New to Fabworks Online, our favourite furnishing fabrics from Fabworks Mill Shop.

This fantastic collection of deluxe plain velvets is ideal for soft furnishings, upholstery and craft projects. These fabrics have been available at Fabworks Mill Shop for some time now, being very popular due to the versatility and usability of this collection. 

All images are taken using high-quality photography equipment. We are very keen to ensure that colour accuracy is the best we can get however, we do suggest ordering a "sample (12cm x 20cm)" first to make sure that this product is right for you.

If a sample (12cm x 20cm) is not sufficient, we suggest ordering 1 unit of 0.5m CUT LENGTH (half metre) for style ideas when planning new projects, wash testing & seeing a full pattern repeat.

A more affordable version of velvet and in some ways an imitation velour looks and feels very similar to velvet however velour is made with a pile knit structure.  The yarns, usually made from cotton or synthetic blends, are knit into tiny loops that form a fluffy pile. 

Knitted, velour is traditionally stretchier than traditional velvet but thanks to developments in textile technology this is no longer the case and velour-velvet can be used for many applications, from upholstery to curtains and clothing.
