Merlot Maze is a beautiful light and airy voile fabric woven with superfine silk (and a touch of cotton) yarns, woven into a clever grid or maze-like design which features a Merlot tone and the squares in between (which are sheer and translucent) have a contrasting rich aubergine tone.
Merlot Maze has a feminine translucent look that’s both smart and sophisticated, perfect for creating floaty feminine styles with fine gathers and ruffle details. Boasting good stability length and width wise and a soft drape quality too.
Perfect uses for Merlot Maze are boho styles such as Bardot tops and dresses. Line with a fine cotton lawn for extra comfort (and modesty) by playing around with colour you can achieve different looks, try a washed purple tone underneath to give a paler tone or add a strong rich purple or black to give a darker overall colour.
This will also make classic pussy bow style blouses, add finely gathered details to the sleeves and yoke to create feminine flair. By lining this excellent fabric, you can create countless floaty styles, try palazzo pants, culottes, playsuits and jumpsuits too. Create the perfect maxi dress and why not add some beautiful applique or embroidery to the hem for a stunning bespoke look.
