You will find gabardines, twills, serges, puppytooths and other classic styles in this collection, all of which are perfect for cargo pants, trench coats, bodywarmers, military jackets, utility wear & other classic military styles.
Supple and malleable like suiting wools but with more weight! Think practical, sturdy fabrics that are built to stand the test of time. Featuring gold-woven selvedges ~ a sure sign of quality.

This fabric forms part of a collection of superb, finely woven wool uniform fabrics, all manufactured in Huddersfield by an independent producer. Many were originally commissioned for military uniforms and were specifically made to suit the hot climates of the Middle East. Expect fine-quality, hard-wearing, elegant and super-smart fabrics. Shade: Urban Slate is a deep, cool grey with subtle steel blue undertones. This name reflects the colour’s modern, architectural vibe and its grounding presence in both uniform wear, streetwear and luxury fashion.
Design: A solid all-over hue featuring a classic fine twill Gabardine weave, with a subtle, lustrous sheen.
Style: The perfect grey wool gaberdine for classic to more edgy fashion and design with its sophisticated, understated, and versatile qualities, modern, functional, yet elegant, mysterious, and refined. Grey hues have excellent versatility. This solid, almost industrial grey teams with Steel Blue, Concrete Grey, Rust, and Off-White hues.
Properties:
Texture: Urban Slate has an even, fine surface texture, thanks to its close gabardine twill weave. The wool content is noticeable to the touch, yet not itchy or irritating. It feels cool initially, but it will naturally adjust to the wearer's body temperature.
Handle: This fabric is stable both widthwise and lengthwise. With its light / medium weight and gentle bias ease, it’s a reliable all-rounder that handles well and sews beautifully.
Drape: Expect a soft, weighty drape with a satisfying 'swish' when used in volume. It forms crisp pleats, tucks, and elegant ruffles with excellent body, perfect for structured silhouettes or fluid tailoring.
