This extremely beautiful crinkle Georgette is printed with a detailed design in the style of Indian floral tiles. Passage to India has the most beautiful colour palette with dusty pink sandstone (like the famous pink city of Jaipur) forming the foundation. The 63cm squared tiles are separated by natural white borders with traditional mehndi designs, the beautiful Indian tiles feature complimentary shades of pale turquoise and dusty turmeric. This delightful fabric is so light and diaphanous you can just imagine strolling through beautiful gardens wearing it as a scarf, draped elegantly around your head and shoulders. Passage to India will sit perfectly with natural linens in pink avocado and spice tones.
Boasting a stable handle on the length and slight ease (due to the crinkles) across the width, a delicate, floaty drape perfect for using en masse in garments with lots of gathered details. This translucent fabric will require lining for most styles but this doesn't have to be a tricky process. For natural fibre lovers a lining of cotton voile or muslin type fabric will be ideal. If you want a silky, easy wear easy care lining for maxi dresses and skirts that tones perfectly with Passage to India then our Pinky Beige - Soft Touch is perfect.
Ideal styles to create using this truly elegant fabric are Bardot style tops, simple tunics and overshirts, beach cover-ups, kaftans and sarongs, simple scarves and stoles, boho maxi & midi dresses and skirts. We love the The Wilder Gown - Friday Pattern Co or Stitchless TV's - The Pontoon Tier Dress. Both of these tiered prairie style dresses are made with simple bodices and rows of gathered rectangular strips to create the skirts. I would recommend using extra long strips when using Passage to India to allow for the super fine sheer quality of this fabric to allow for fuller gathers but the extra fabric and effort will be worth it!
