Introduction:

If the weather is chilly and the days are dull, the antidote is a cheery and warming fabric like our Orange Punch.

Colour:

The clue is in the name, Orange Punch boasts the zingiest orange hue that's reminiscent of a  childhood chewy fruit treat it's so mouth-wateringly fresh. Using two yarns - one white and one orange further enhances the visual resemblance to those carefully-wrapped candies.

Properties:

Boasting a super soft and cosy brushed hand, maintaining excellent density and reversibility thanks to its double twill construction. This fabric is the ideal coat weight and is stable and robust whilst being malleable and possessing a reassuring drape quality.

Garment Suggestions:

The Avid Seamstress - The Coat is an excellent introduction to coat making and is only partially lined making this fabric the perfect choice. Thanks to the super stable and dense quality of this versatile fabric it is perfect for worker-style jackets and shacket styles;

The Ilford Jacket - Friday Pattern Co or The Closet Core - Sienna Maker Jacket are all excellent choices.  Create the cutest children's duffle coats from this cheerful fabric and perhaps a matching one for yourself!

Other Uses:

If dressmaking isn't your thing why not put this chunky herringbone to use in your home? Make envelope-style cushions with coordinating chunky buttons in bright tones, or matching throws with fun, brightly coloured trimmings, perfect for snuggling into on cold winter days!

Good for spring short jacktet

I sewed a short western-style unlined jacket with bound button holes and flat felled seams. The fabric is very soft (it is 95% wool but felt almost like acrylic!) and warm and the colour is bright and cheerful. The fabric is double faced but cannot be split. The button holes were a bit chunky as were the seams, but overall it looked OK. It was probably too much to ask of the fabric to make it unlined. With a lining, it would make a fabulous coat or jacket and would hang nicely. I used vintage brass buttons.
