Colour:

This bespoke block check Donegal Herringbone comes to you in a palette of rich countryside autumnal hues as magnificent as a fleeting Bouquet of Pheasants. If you find it difficult to choose a plain colour from our luxury Donegal Tweed collection, then let Mother Nature present you with them all.

Woven in repeating 10 x 11cm blocks of classic herringbone chevrons, a palette of golden amber and copper beech yarns-like fallen leaves, sit alongside, rich reds of currant, wine and jewel-like rosehips with a regal contrast of deep teal, peacock, and turquoise hues. Strut like a bevvy of pheasants, whilst wearing these heritage colours inspired by nature.

The use of differing light and dark tones creates a subtle contrast and showcases the chevrons of the Herringbone weave. Joyful multi-coloured Donegal flecks - like precious winter seeds and berries complete the ensemble that is Pheasant Bouquet.

Properties:

This exquisite Irish woven, herringbone tweed is created from heavier gauge, lightly brushed yarns, of the most supremely soft lambswool quality, producing a medium-weight fabric that's hard-wearing and cosy. Stable, width and lengthwise with a malleable and soft drape quality that feels sumptuously luxurious - a sure sign of the highest quality yarns.

Garment Suggestions:

Herringbone Tweeds are always a firm favourite for country outerwear and will work beautifully for jackets, overcoats and pea coats. Alternatively, go for something less formal and try poncho, wrap and cape styles.

A matching waistcoat and skirt will become priceless additions to your wardrobe. Great to throw on with your favourite roll-neck top or Liberty shirt (or even a crisp, clean Italian poplin), with chunky tights and winter boots.

Complete the ensemble with your own bespoke, matching accessories! Hats, caps, ear warmers, scarves and bags are just a few ideas.

Other Uses:

Interior projects around the home will be an indulgent touch and stunning additional pops of colour where needed. Use for comforting throws and cushions - an eye-catching, vivid and modern twist to a traditional combination.

Avoca Deadstock Fabrics

Explore all Avoca surplus fabrics

Fabworks x Avoca

Fabworks’ association with Avoca began in 2011, when Fabworks Mill Shop was only a fraction of what it is today, and way before Fabworks Online existed. We were approached by Avoca with an offer to buy their surplus fabric from the previous seasons' collections. What an opportunity! A deal was struck, and what arrived at our warehouse a few weeks later was the most amazing selection of Irish-made pure wool fabrics, plus all the accessorising elements within the Avoca ladieswear collection (elaborate trimmings, gorgeous embroidered silks, lightweight satins, Liberty jerseys) and the cherry on top of the cake – Irish-made Donegal Tweed!

The working relationship between Fabworks and Avoca blossomed over the next few years and allowed Fabworks to develop its focus on high end ladies’ dressmaking fabrics and away from the lower end of the textiles market.

Four years and several thousand metres of fabric later, Fabworks took a bigger step than ever before, and collaborated with Avoca to commission its own range of Irish-made pure wool fabrics which marked the launch of Fabworks Online, November 16th 2015. This was a defining moment for Fabworks, being the very first collection of fabrics that we commissioned ourselves. With a range of herringbones in iconic Avoca colour-rich palettes, this was Fabworks’ first taste of proper manufacturing in the 21st century.
