Introduction:
This super stylish plaid fabric has a very chic designer style, a punchy but not garish palette and versatile composition and a medium/heavy weight handle that makes it ideal for a wide range of practical and stylish A/W wear.
Colour:
Woven in a double cloth construction, where a solid blue-black twill weave is featured on the reverse, with the plaid design on the face side featuring a range of very Italian-inspired colours that intersect the blue-black background. The red-orange and green tones typical of chilis sit alongside rich and golden sandstone, evoking memories of strolling through colourful markets in antiquated Italian villages.
Properties:
Colours of Italy Plaid is woven in a classic twill on the reverse and Panama (basket style) weave on the face, from tightly twisted cotton yarn for durability. This is a medium-weight reversible fabric with a quality finish (on both sides). Expertly woven in Italy, originally for a top British designer. Stable width and lengthwise and possessing a heavy drape quality when used in longer lengths.
Garment Suggestions:
Simple ponchos, wraps and capes are a great place to dip your toe into garment making. When you are feeling more adventurous, cocoon coats, classic overcoats, and stylish tailored capes will look magnificent. This beauty doesn't need to be lined if you bind the seams! Play around with your cutting layouts and feature some bias-cut panels for flared cape styles and swing coats. Add contrasting bound seams in one of the colours and you will have a garment to be proud of.
Other Uses:
If you want some quick and easy makes to furnish your home, this stylish plaid will make fabulous blinds, curtains and cushions.
