Overview:

Jet Herringbone is a Wool & Cashmere, light-medium, finely woven suiting with a superfine, subtle herringbone weave. Very light and soft in hand yet still has that quality of Cashmere warmth, this is special occasion Cashmere.

Specifications:

Weight: Light/Medium

GSM: 211

Composition: Wool & Cashmere

Width: 160cm / 62.9inch

Pattern Repeat: 0.8cm / 0.31inch

Colour:

Overall: A lovely warm black with a subtle herringbone lustre, this fabric pairs with everything from crisp white to camel, navy and berry tones, making it a quiet partner for bolder designs.

Shades: A solid, piece-dyed, natural, brown-based black tone, just like jet, hence the namesake. One colour runs through the whole cloth, with no marls, flecks or blemishes.

Design: Featuring a superfine 8mm herringbone weave, the subtle lustre picks up the fine chevrons when the light catches them, so from a distance the cloth appears plain and reveals its texture only when close. The woven feature ribbon "Made in England" barely discernible on the selvedge, shows the fabric was piece-dyed after weaving.

Properties:

Texture: Super soft, with a finish that is almost lightly brushed on both sides, giving a smooth, even surface with a gentle lustre.

Handle: Super soft, malleable and stable in both width and length, with gentle ease on the bias, Jet holds its shape as you cut and sew, making it as rewarding to work with as it is to wear.

Drape: A reassuring and elegant drape quality, this light-mediumweight flannel falls cleanly and moves with the body, ideal for soft tailoring that still hangs with structure.

Garment Suggestions:

Types: Uses as for medium to lightweight flannel suitings: soft tailored blazers and jackets, trousers, waistcoats, skirts, pinafore dresses, lightweight coats, coatigans and wraps. Being soft on both sides, it suits unlined styles.

Top tip! As with any brushed cloth, cut all pieces directionally to ensure the colour appears evenly throughout your garment.

Another Top tip! This "Special Occasion" cloth should not be worn too often. Allow it to relax for a day after wearing it to that special occasion.

Patterns:

Other Uses:

Accessories: Create luxury accessories that show off the elegant drape: scarves, wraps, stoles, caps and bags. Soft on both sides, it makes generous single-layer scarves that need only a neat hem.

Furnishings: Throws and cushion covers with a quiet, tailored look: hem or bind the edges and let the fine cloth do the rest.

Upcycling: Make the most of every remnant and off-cut by reworking them into collar and cuff facings, covered buttons and pocket linings, as well as contrast panels for a favourite jacket.
