Colour:

Shades: A classic monochrome palette of fresh minty humbugs forms this classic District Style Check. Liquorice black sits confidently at the base and is intersected by overchecks of fresh minty white, flanked by subtle, almost shadowed smoke grey. Monochrome palettes in classic checks are design classics, never going out of style and easily incorporated into most other colours and designs.

Design: A traditional twill-woven district check, defined by crisp intersecting lines and balanced proportions, creating a bold yet timeless graphic pattern.

Overall: A timeless classic design woven in easy-wear, easy-care blended wool.

Properties:

Texture: Blended for comfort, offering the warmth and structure of wool with a gentler feel against the skin, maintaining the character of wool while introducing a more supple, wearer-friendly texture. Lightly brushed with more pronounced texture on the face.

Handle: Seriously sturdy and hardwearing, with excellent stability in both width and length and a natural bias ease that supports structured garment shapes.

Drape: Malleable with a satisfyingly heavy drape, perfect for garments designed to cocoon and insulate.

Garment Suggestions:

Types: An excellent choice for oversized statement overcoats with an ’80s-inspired silhouette, cropped double-breasted jackets, chunky winter coats, capes and bold outer layers.

Patterns: Our favourite patterns are the Kyoto Jacket and the Coat.

Other Uses:

Accessories: Ideal for reversible scarves, hats or bags, especially useful when gifting for those with understated or neutral colour preferences.

Furnishings: If dressmaking isn’t your thing, this fabric also works well for home projects. Try envelope-style cushions with chunky buttons or cosy throws, perfect for winter snuggling.

Upcycling: Don’t throw away those scraps, use them for rag rugging, appliqué scenes or smaller crafted details that benefit from warmth and durability.
