Caring for Your Wool Fabric

Wool is a natural fibre with wonderful warmth and character, but it does need gentle care to stay looking its best. Before making your garments, please take a moment to read this care guide:

· Dry Clean: For the longest life and best finish, we recommend dry cleaning. This helps avoid shrinkage and keeps the fabric’s lovely handle.

· If you prefer to wash at home: Wash by hand, in a sink of cool water and a gentle wool detergent. Treat the fabric kindly—no wringing, scrubbing, or twisting. Simply press the water through. Rinse off in cool water.

· Drying: Lay the fabric flat on a clean towel to dry naturally. Keep it away from direct heat or sunlight. Please don’t tumble dry, as this can cause felting and shrinkage.

· Pressing: If you’d like to press the fabric, use a steam iron on the wool setting with a pressing cloth to protect the surface. Light steam will help relax creases.

· Other: Many modern washing machines have the option of a wool cycle, where wool detergent is advised.

A little note: This is fabric for your creative projects; any washing is done at your own risk. Wool may shrink or change in texture when laundered. To be safe, we always recommend testing with a small piece of fabric first before treating your whole length.

Fabworks does not launder its fabrics before despatch.

Enjoy sewing with your new wool, it’s a fabric made to last for years when cared for with love!
