Fabworks Mill Shop Turns 30!

30 Years of Fabworks Mill Shop: Join the Celebration

For three decades, Fabworks Mill Shop has been Yorkshire's destination for fabric lovers, sewists, and craft enthusiasts. This summer, we're turning 30 and you’re invited to celebrate with us!

From Monday 27 July to Sunday 9 August 2026, we're transforming the Mill Shop during a two-week celebration of everything that's made Fabworks what it is today: fabric, community, and 30 years of a love for textiles. Visit during our celebrations for daily promotions, hands-on creative workshops, heritage displays tracing our journey from day one, opportunities to meet the wider Fabworks team, and lots of offers woven in along the way.

Fabworks didn't reach its 30th birthday by accident. It's been built by loyal customers who've trusted us with their projects, the makers who've shared their skills in our workshops, and an enthusiastic and friendly team of textile fans that genuinely love fabric. This event is our way of saying thank you, and inviting you to be part of the next chapter.

We're wrapping up the birthday celebrations with something we've never done before: Fabworks is opening on a Sunday for the first time ever. This is the showpiece event of the entire celebration - a single day dedicated to bringing together everything in one big birthday bash.

Open to all, just turn up on the day! We'd love to see you there - no tickets or pre-booking required.

This will be an unmissable visit with a special Fabworks twist, including a special seasonal unveiling, hot drinks & cake, and a whole lot of Fabworks enthusiasm, plus free goodie bags for the first few through the door. Whether you've been buying fabric since the very beginning or you're discovering Fabworks for the first time, this is the moment to experience Fabworks at its very best.

Mark your calendar. Plan your visit. Come and celebrate 30 years with us.

What Else You Need to Know

You'll Receive A Friendly Welcome: Step through the door and you'll be greeted by our very knowledgeable team happy to talk fabric, offer advice, or help you find your next project, whether you're visiting for the first time or you're a regular Fabworks visitor. The atmosphere will be relaxed and convivial, whether you're swapping idea over coffee, browsing, discovering the day’s promotion, or learning some Fabworks history.

Promotions: Every day of the two-week celebrations brings something new. Expect a fresh offer daily, alongside other promotions running throughout, giving you good reason to pop back in more than once - maybe for a one-off birthday special length of fabric, some fat quarter craft bundles, one of our daily "vault" reveals, or a super birthday bargain (there are plenty of these), and even some hidden £1.00 finds.

Fabworks Heritage: Throughout the celebration, you'll find special displays of photos from the archives, historical information and heritage talks charting how the shop has evolved over 30 years and a chance to see where it all began!

Workshops: As part of the birthday celebrations, we're running two workshops designed to give you a genuinely useful new skill, alongside a memorable day at the Mill Shop. The Curtain Hand-Sewing Workshop is aimed at confident, non-beginner sewists ready to build on existing techniques. The Autumnal Wool Wreath Making Workshop is a more craft-based workshop and open to all abilities. Both workshops run twice, Saturday 1 and Saturday 8 August 14:00 - 16:00, so you can pick whichever date suits you.

Keep Up-To-Date: Each day of celebrations brings a new promotion, from the moment the doors open each morning. To make sure you never miss one, we'll also be sharing the day's offer on our Facebook and Instagram, so follow along, keep an eye on your feed, and pop in whenever an offer catches your eye.

Workshops

As part of the birthday celebrations, we're running two workshops designed to give you a genuinely useful new skill, alongside a memorable day at the Mill Shop.

Each workshop is capped at just 10 participants, keeping things personal and properly hands-on rather than a crowded demonstration.

Tickets are £5 per person and include all materials, tuition, and a behind-the-scenes look at the shop as part of our 30th birthday celebrations. Spaces are limited and expected to go quickly, so early booking is recommended.

Purchase a digital ticket from the options below and reserve your place on either workshop.
