Grey Haze is a wonderful, finely woven, super soft stretch suiting fabric. The combination of fine, silky soft yarns of black woven with the multi-tonal white and black yarns across the warp produce an almost vertical, marled effect and is similar in handle to a soft flannel. This expertly woven fabric has excellent versatility thanks to its soft feel and excellent retentive stretch across the width. Remember suiting fabric is not just for suits. This is a designer fabric that you can quite literally dress up or dress down.

Properties:

Grey Haze boasts excellent retentive stretch (widthwise) and the most beautiful, reassuring medium-heavy drape quality-making it perfect for a mountain of uses!  This fabric will hold crisp details like collars and revers plus it will form superb ruffles, gathers and pleats. Grey-toned stable fabrics have perennial appeal.

Garment Suggestions:

Try our very own Cordelia Trousers from The Pattern Stash! Create perfect pleats and full drapey wide legs with a Fabworks exclusive sewing pattern!

Don't be restricted and think you can only make trousers, jackets and waistcoats from Grey Haze, this supersoft fabric is easy to wear and easy to care for, and thanks to its clever composition, it hardly creases! This will make feminine workwear with a vintage style; wiggle dresses and skirts with ruffled peplums and fishtail fan pleats, plus shirt dresses, tunics, pinafore dresses and the most elegant and wearable dresses you will return to, year after year. Wrap bodice dresses with gently flared skirts are perfect for wearing across the seasons. If trousers are more your style, the Zadie Jumpsuit from Paper Theory Patterns has similar lines to Vogue Patterns V1672.

If this corporate grey is too plain for you, add a designer detail like embroidered applique or topstitch in brightly coloured thread, add matching bright buttons and wear with bright/richly coloured shirts!

Suiting fabric makes up fabulously in utility styles (particularly in dark or neutral tones) and are super useful and never date. The Assembly Line Patterns are ideal for utility styles as are Merchant & Mills and The Makers Atelier.  There are of course lots of other fabulous pattern brands out there, just choose patterns that let the fabric sell itself.
