This visually stunning, lightweight, high quality satin was originally created for a renowned British ladies and menswear designer famous for their fine occasion wear with quirky and elegant styles; inspired by history and the natural world. We decided to name this fabric SOS; as an acronym that stands for Special Occasion Satin, referencing this particular fabric and its sister fabrics in the collection. Click here to see the full range of Special Occasion Satin fabrics.

Glint of Goldfish is a finely woven lightweight polyester satin twill and has a mesmerising printed design that features a wonderful subtle quirkiness and versatile style. This silken stunner will appeal to those who love individual design and ravishing jewel tones.

This quirky design has profusion of glimmering goldfish swimming in a lagoon of teal and ultra marine tones. The gorgeous little goldfish have accents of paler turquoise which create a shimmering effect (you can almost see them catching the light as they move). The overall effect is mesmerising and suitable for both ladies and gents clothing with a subtle individuality, and certainly a conversation starter.

Boasting a super soft silky feel and subtle sheen you would be forgiven for thinking this was silk. This first rate satin has a sumptuous hand which is stable width and lengthwise with a delicious drape. All you have to decide now is what to make.

Glint of Goldfish will of course make stunning occasion wear pieces, dresses with drape and gathered details, bow tie blouses and dresses, cowl necked shift dresses, simple dolman sleeved tops. Quick make slashed neck scarf style tops will all add a hint of luxury to a simple jeans and top outfit. Take this elegant wonder and create '70s inspired puffed, full sleeve shirts, with deep cuffs and matching cover buttons, extend this style into gathered, tiered, skirted dresses and wear with statement boots for a fabulous stand alone piece.

Spoil yourself or someone special and create stylish and sumptuous traditional pyjamas with coordinating piped collars and pocket tops. Or a slinky camisole and shorts set with coordinating lace and matching kimono robe. Create retro/vintage style robes for the man in your life with a smoking jacket vibe. Use two similar fabrics from our Special Occasion Satin collection and create a two tone effect like the robe in Vanessa Mooncie's 'The Gentleman's Wardrobe'. This excellent book has plenty of fab vintage clothing ideas (with patterns) where you will find more opportunities to use SOS.

Glint of Goldfish will also make a statement lining for your bespoke woollen jackets, waistcoats (with statement backs) and coats. You won’t be able to resist showing people your wonderful lining! Create simple cravats, scarves, headbands and luxe accessories to match.

Beautiful but fiddly

The fabric is amazing looking, really impressive. However it is fiddly to sew - unsurprisingly it is slippery but in addition it frays quite easily and it is hard to iron (very bouncy and doesn’t press readily). It will look amazing when sewn (I hope!) but be wary of those difficulties.

So very pretty

No idea what I will make with this, but it was too gorgeous to leave behind.

Amazing fabric, quick delivery

I feel in love with this fabric on Instagram so was not really expecting it to be as nice as the picture. It is actually better, wonderful unusual fabric with really fast delivery. Have already ordered more fabrics.

Luxury lining

Beautiful fabric, easy to handle, sews up like a dream.

Lovely, saturated colours and design

Lovely, saturated colours and design however the fabric itself feels a little stiffer than anticipated. After an initial lauder before use, it did not appear to soften. Also, as it is 100%polyester, it does feel a little cheap. Don’t hate it, but not my favourite.
