Introduction:

Cosmic Blue Pin Dot - Virgin Wool Worsted this superfine, flat-weave, micro-weave, worsted suiting fabric was woven in Italy by master craftsmen and originally made for a top British designer. Now you can make your own bespoke designs with a designer flair!

Colour:

Cosmic Blue is woven from alternating classic black and royal blue fine worsted yarns that are combed to create an almost shot blue-black, as beautiful as the cosmos itself.  We know that these rich blue tones are perennial favourites easily paired with other key pieces.

Properties:

Cosmic Blue is a lightweight suiting fabric is stable and boasts a close pin-dot weave and soft drape quality that is perfect for a multitude of garments that don't necessarily have to become suits.

Garment Suggestions:

Why should only tailors get to use beautiful suitings? Cosmic Blue is perfect for ladies' drapey dress designs from classic cowl neck shifts to bias-cut Viv Westwood tuck and drape styles and is also stable enough for shirts and shirt dresses. How about a Ralph Lauren-inspired jumpsuit for serious style? Of course, you can't beat a classic suit, can you?

For something a little sharper; create classic wide-legged trousers The Pattern Stash - Cordelia Trousers and matching waistcoats The Pattern Stash - Jemima Waistcoat for a confident feminine style. The use of interlining is recommended for the waistcoat to add structure. Dress this look down with classic Fair Isle jumpers and a pair of brogues. For full-on feminine glamour go the whole hog and create a matching blazer with a velvet collar and pocket flaps, classic cuts never date.

If suitmaking isn't your forte, fear not! Put this superb fabric to use for less formal, but equally smart outfits, such as shirts, tunics, pinafore dresses, and skirts. The Merchant & Mills Shirt Dress and Trapeze Dress will look stunning in this fabric. There's also a simple drawstring-waist trouser pattern too The 101 Trouser, which will work perfectly with Cosmic Blue. Sew Different's Layer Up patterns are also an excellent choice for loose-flowing tunics to oversized dress choices- the neat Sew Different's Harvester Pants Pattern are perfect too!

There are many other patterns available suitable to use with Cosmic Blue think clean simple lines and unfussy cuts.

Why choose wool fabric?

Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑

We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?

Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.

Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.

Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.

Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
