Introduction:

Nimes Blue  - Chateau Stripe Cotton Ticking is not only a satisfyingly sturdy striped fabric, this is the real deal- authentic mattress ticking! French chic, equally at home used in interiors, for soft furnishings from castles to cottages, or as an alternative or contrast with denim for utility-style clothing.

Colour:

This 100% cotton herringbone woven fabric sports the chicest stripes of alternating natural (ecru) and classic denim blue. A stylish combination that will sit perfectly with all manner of toile-de-jouy-type fabrics, natural linens and fabrics/wallcoverings with an essentially natural, country-inspired theme.

Did you know denim gets its name from the French city of Nimes and literally means "from/of Nimes"- de Nimes!

Properties:

Nimes Blue is seriously stable, sturdy and hardwearing, with a lightly textured, classic cotton canvas-like feel' and has the drape and feel of quality medium/heavy-weight denim or drill/twill.  Ticking was traditionally used to cover mattresses because of its close twill/herringbone weave making it super strong and hard-wearing. More commonly used now for soft furnishings.

 Uses/ applications:

Nimes Blue looks oh-so-chic paired with Toile de Jouy fabrics, antique/style florals, and polka dots for cushions, blinds, curtains etc. Think Cath Kidston and Jane Churchill-style interior design schemes. Depending on how you style your Chateau Stripe you can achieve classic-style interiors with a grand French feel to a more relaxed shabby chic cottage style.
