Introduction:
Welcome to Fabworks’ House Linen: a collection of carefully curated colours, created from a base cloth of linen and cotton.
Initially sourced as deadstock overruns, we rescued this fabric that had a light washed colour, which meant that it would be perfect to overdye. Now rejuvenated and repurposed into some of our favourite shades, the House Linen collection features a range of hand-picked hues that sit together in a paint box-like palette. Voilà!

Perfectly Imperfect Note:
Although we like to think we've got the perfect recipe for how to present our carefully curated fabric portfolio online, not everything that enters the doors at Fabworks is perfect. During the dying process of our staple collection House Linen - this is how we create our unique Fabworks House Fabrics - the black colourway has been affected by some scuff marks. Rest assured, the quality of the fabric itself and its properties are still premium and perfectly serviceable for all your sewing projects, and it is only the overall appearance that is affected. With some white chalk-like scuffs throughout the fabric. If cutting around the markings is not an option, try a thorough pre-wash or a good old scrub to rid the fabric of these imperfections. Perfectly Imperfect!
Colour:
A neutrally sitting, classic matte black shade, deep and dark like a raven silhouette in the dark night. With very faint dark charcoal undertones, this is unmistakably black, but not the darkest of undisturbed black shades.

Properties:
The Oxford Linens have been created through dyeing and finishing a fine Oxford woven linen (42%) & cotton (58%) blend fabric. Due to its textural weave detail (akin to a Panama or Hopsack)
These cosy but not cloying, cool and breathable fabric is stable yet drapey, and features a super soft handle that is simply sublime, perfect for a multitude of garments.
One of the many benefits that the House Linen offers is that it will wash and wear forever, only improving with age due to the hard-wearing properties of its natural fibres: cotton and linen.

Background:
Now in its fifth generation, the family behind Fabworks has been working with 'textile waste' for over 100 years, whether that be in reclaimed textiles, cleaning rags & wipers, shoddy, loose fibres, or second-hand clothing. Fast forward to the 21st century, where fabric and sewing notions are the company’s main focus, we now find ourselves breaking new ground with a bespoke selection of fabrics that we have dyed in the UK.
