Specifications:
Weight: Light
GSM: 230
Composition: Wool & Polyester
Width: 156cm / 61.4inch
Colour:
Shade: This deep, dark, seriously smart Inkstone Navy is the tone of navy that doesn't shout but stands proud and strong with quiet confidence. Dark with hidden potential like an ancient poet's pot of Ink. What will your Inkstone Navy become?
Design: A solid all-over hue featuring a classic fine twill Gaberdine weave, with a subtle, lustrous sheen.
Style: Perfect for key pieces for the wanderer in a city that never sleeps, blending utility with allure and urban sophistication.
Properties:
Texture: Inkstone Navy has an even, fine surface texture, thanks to its close gabardine twill weave and its almost brushed feel. The wool content is noticeable to the touch, yet not itchy or irritating. It feels cool initially, but it will naturally adjust to the wearer's body temperature. The polyester content adds durability and makes it easier to care for.
Handle: This fabric is stable both widthwise and lengthwise. With its lightweight and gentle bias ease, it’s a reliable all-rounder that handles well and sews beautifully. Has a certain crispness that makes it resistant to creasing.
Drape: Expect a soft, weighty collective drape with a satisfying 'swish' when used in volume. It forms crisp pleats, tucks, and elegant ruffles with excellent body, perfect for structured silhouettes or fluid tailoring.
Garment Suggestions:
Types: Suitable for a wide range of tailored and vintage-inspired pieces, think wiggle dresses, wide-legged retro trousers, classic trench coats, coat dresses, and more.
Patterns: Some of our favourite patterns are the Cordelia Trousers, the Ilford Jacket, the Amelia Skirt, The Coat and the Arya Pleat Dress.
Other Uses:
Accessories: Perfect for creating timeless, structured pieces such as tote bags, shoulder bags, laptop sleeves, belts, caps and hats. This smart wool-blend lends itself well to accessories that call for form and durability, with a refined, understated finish.
Furnishings: Although primarily a garment fabric, Inkstone Navy can also be used for stylish, tailored home accents. Consider cushion covers, boxed-edge seat pads, blind trims and draught excluders. Ideal where a crisp, uniform-inspired aesthetic is desired.
Upcycling: Ideal for scrap-friendly projects like appliqué, patchwork or textile art. Offcuts can be transformed into contrast panels for garments, or used to create characterful soft furnishings, think fabric trays, coasters, or classic pieces like Scottie dogs, teddy bears and dachshund draught excluders.
