Overview:

Black Bliss is an exquisite, heavyweight, 100% Cashmere coating with a brushed finish. It is the epitome of cashmere coating. This is absolutely the best quality, with the softness you feel you could retreat into, like a gentle caress or a comforting hug, hence its name.

Specifications:

Weight: Heavy

GSM: 518

Composition: 100% Cashmere

Width: 154cm / 60.6inch

Colour:

Overall: A classic, rich black, the ultimate outerwear staple, because black goes with everything and you don't have to think about matching it up with anything else. For a lighter cloth in the same black, try its sibling Black Silence.

Shades: One solid black runs through the whole cloth, with a cool blue base rather than a brown one, so it reads as a deep, clean black in daylight. No marls, flecks or blemishes.

Design: A plain cloth, lightly milled to create dense, resilient warmth, with the weave sitting beneath the brushed pile.

Bonus - no pattern repeat, so there is no matching to worry about.

Properties:

Texture: Semi-matt, with a highly brushed, directional pile on the face that gives the cloth its depth and its cosiness. The reverse is less brushed but equally soft.

Handle: Of a heavy weight, yet not at all unyielding, stiff or cloying as you would expect: cashmere is always soft, gentle and yielding. Stable in both width and length, Black Bliss holds a tailored shape as you cut and sew.

Drape: Drapes heavily and reassuringly solid, so coats and capes swing with real weight rather than sitting stiff.

Garment Suggestions:

Types: Perfect for a luxury coat, jacket or any piece of winter outerwear, styled classically as a longline winter coat, overcoat or pea coat, or cut into more funky urban worker styles such as worker jackets, chore coats and gilets. Soft on the reverse, so unlined styles work beautifully. It's always easy to tell a cashmere coat from a wool one. The quality and look make it totally distinctive in an understated but unmissable way.

Top tip! The pile is directional, so cut all pieces in the same direction, with the pile running down the garment, to keep the colour and the hand even throughout.

Other Uses:

Accessories: A softness that just begs to be used for comforting accessories: scarves, snoods, hats, gloves, mittens and bags you will reach for all winter.

Furnishings: Luxury throws and cushion covers of the utmost quality: hem or bind the edges and the dense, soft pile brings warmth and quiet luxury to any room.

Upcycling: Use every scrap of this luxurious cashmere. Rework off-cuts into collar and cuff facings, covered buttons and pocket linings, make hand warmers, or patch up a favourite cashmere coat.
