Introduction:
Cherry Ice is a top-notch 100% linen fabric that comes to you in a perennial favourite cherry red hue and in a versatile jumbo herringbone weave design. A heavy weight makes this fabric an ideal choice for a multitude of hardwearing and stylish sewing room projects to take you throughout all seasons with serious style.
A new addition to the website and manufactured by the same renowned European company as our summer Linens of '21 & '22. These fabrics are the same superior quality and with an assortment of even more colours, designs and natural fibre types. Natural fibre lovers, this is for you!
Colour:
Rich red like ripe cherries is woven cleverly throughout the weft and forms the jumbo herringbone design alongside its grounding and natural light flax-hued warp. The contrast of the two yarns emphasises the shard-like chevrons like an iced dessert with rich cherry sauce.
Properties:
Linen has been used for centuries because of its beneficial properties; cool and breathable, gets softer with washing & wear and linen is impervious to moths and resists dirt and stains. Linen will not form lint or pill and can be washed at high temperatures with only moderate shrinkage (approx. 4%).
The characteristic slubs (once viewed as a fault) are now part of the aesthetic appeal of quality linen fabric. Cherry Ice is stable and lightly textured, with the reassuring naturally absorbent malleable and comfortable feel of a favourite linen garment. A reassuring heavy drape quality makes this leviathan perfect for longer styles of garments and soft furnishings.
Garment Suggestions:
Cherry Ice will form structured details on collars, cuffs and waistbands for garments with a utility style. Used in quantity and at length it will form full gathers, plus neat pleats with a reassuring drape. All you have to do is decide what to make.
