This visually stunning, lightweight, high quality satin was originally created for a renowned British ladies and menswear designer famous for their fine occasion wear with quirky and elegant styles; inspired by history and the natural world. We decided to name this fabric SOS; as an acronym that stands for Special Occasion Satin, referencing this particular fabric and its sister fabrics in the collection. Click here to see the full range of Special Occasion Satin fabrics.

Crystal Sky is a finely woven lightweight polyester satin twill, featuring a neatly printed pattern with a wonderful classic yet modern appeal. This silken stunner will appeal to those who love timeless design.

The even geometric design incorporates rows of tiled squares, creating star-like shapes which emulate the facets of beautiful blue topaz gemstones. Blue Topaz is linked to the Hindu mother goddess of the sky, Aditi, who is said to be the ruler of all things celestial and boundless sky.

This intricate geometric design boasts a seriously smart and calming blue palette, the jewel-toned background is accentuated with tiny navy squares (the facets of the gemstone) and have a pleasing geometric sequence. The overall effect is super smart and suitable for ladies and gentlemen's clothing with classic appeal.

Boasting a super soft, silky feel and subtle sheen, you would be forgiven for thinking this was silk. This first-rate satin has a sumptuous hand which is stable width and lengthwise with a delicious drape. All you have to decide now is what to make.

Crystal Sky will of course make stunning occasion wear pieces, dresses with drape and gathered details, bow-tie blouses and dresses, cowl-necked shift dresses, simple dolman sleeved tops, quick-make slashed-neck scarf style tops will all add a hint of luxury to a simple jeans and top outfit. Take this elegant wonder and create '70s inspired puffed, full sleeve shirts with deep cuffs and matching cover buttons. Extend this style into dresses with gathered tiers and wear with statement boots for a fabulous stand-alone piece.

Spoil yourself or someone special and create stylish and sumptuous traditional pyjamas with coordinating piped collars and pocket tops in navy, or the prettiest camisole and shorts set with coordinating lace and matching kimono robe. Create retro/vintage style robes for the man in your life with a smoking jacket vibe. Use two similar fabrics from our SOS collection and create a two-tone effect like the robe in Vanessa Mooncie's 'The Gentleman's Wardrobe'. This excellent book has plenty of fab vintage clothing ideas (with patterns) where you will find more opportunities to use Special Occasion Satin.

SOS - Crystal Sky will also make a statement lining for your bespoke woollen jackets, coats and waistcoats (with statement waistcoat backs). You won’t be able to resist showing people your wonderful lining! Create simple cravats, scarves, headbands and luxe accessories to match.
