Properties: 

This quality fabric is a true classic. March of Time is finely woven from a high thread count of cosy wool yarns across the warp which are twisted to produce extra density and fine cotton yarn on the weft. The close twill woven construction thus produces a medium/heavy fabric which is stable, has a heavy drape quality, subtle sheen and is naturally water and soil resistant. Wool serge fabrics have been used for centuries to make military uniforms and other smart and hard-wearing apparel. The addition of cotton in this classic fabric takes away the irritant itch of the wool fibres on the reverse.

Our March of Time is perfect for creating hard-wearing coats and jackets, jeans style trousers and cargo/utility pants. Denim style pinafore dresses and a plethora of other utility styles with the added warmth of wool. Merchant and Mills have a range of utility inspired patterns. For something a little more advanced and creative why nor create equestrian inspired riding style coats with fitted, princess seamed bodices and full skirts.

NB: This finely woven classic also has a beautiful multi coloured 2cm deep selvedge in shades of complimentary blues, greens and lilacs. Use the selvedge to add quirky details to your custom made garments, perfect for pocket edges and pocket flaps.
