Colour:
Amethyst & Citrine boasts a closely packed warp of light-marled grey yarns - the colour of limestone- perfect as the base of this first-rate Yorkshire Tweed (Nailhead) Donegal. A rich navy melange yarn with multi tones of amethyst purple and blue boasts subtle, complementary Donegal.
With accents of citrine gold and lilac woven throughout the weft creating a subtle contrast to the grounding grey, and further accentuating the traditional nailhead design to produce a pleasing overall neutral palette reminiscent of crystals of the naturally occurring companions- citrine and amethyst. A truly regal palette fit for a king or queen and perfect to take you through the cooler seasons and into spring.
This heritage weave (named because of the small rectangular picks - groups of twinned yarns) looks like old-fashioned nail heads. The traditional weave (similar to basket weave) and superb yarn combination has an honest, hardwearing look yet soft and warming feel - like the Yorkshire men and women who have been making these woollen textiles for generations.
Properties:
Boasting a traditional wool tweed feel, that is both stable and hard-wearing, this closely woven woollen wonder has a soft, lightly-brushed feel and medium-heavy drapey handle that will make wonderful winter coats. Also try fashioning capes, wraps and coatigans too. Certain to brighten those dull autumn/winter days!
Garment Suggestions:
Donegal Tweeds are always a firm favourite for country outerwear and will work beautifully for jackets, overcoats and pea coats. Alternatively, go for something less formal and try poncho, wrap and cape styles.
A matching waistcoat and skirt will become priceless additions to your wardrobe. Great to throw on with your favourite roll-neck top or Liberty shirt (or even a crisp, clean Italian poplin), with chunky tights and winter boots.
Complete the ensemble with your own bespoke, matching accessories! Hats, caps, ear warmers, scarves and bags are just a few ideas.
