Introduction:

Lustrous Classic Black - Linen & Cotton Twill is a finely, woven, ex-designer linen and cotton twill fabric. A combination of strong, breathable blended yarns in classic black produces a versatile fabric perfect to dress up or down. Consider this a luxe utility fabric.

Colour:

This super stylish crisp twill has slight blue/green undertones that add depth and distinction. Take a look here at the other ex-designer Linens including other colourways.

Properties:

Classic Black has excellent stability and the most beautiful, reassuring drape quality which displays its fine lustre, making it perfect for a mountain of uses. This fabric will hold crisp details like collars and cuffs plus it will form superb ruffles, gathers and pleats. Drill and twill styles have perennial appeal, and classic blacks will help to form key pieces within any wardrobe. This natural fibre blend makes for a strong yet breathable and kind to sensitive skin fabric, that is perfect for clothing all members of the family.

Garment Suggestions:

Create unique shirts and blouses, shirtdresses, tunics and the most elegant and wearable dresses you will return to season after season. Vogue Patterns V1672 is an elegant wrap bodice dress that we love, with a gently flared skirt it is perfect for wearing throughout the seasons, layering up as we go into autumn/winter with cardigans, chunky tights and boots.

Emphasise the wonderful lustrous drape with the gathered tiers and prairie style of patterns such as the Sew Different's Layer Up Collection. If trousers are more your style, The Pattern Stash - Cordelia Trousers or Zadie Jumpsuit - Paper Theory are ideal.

Utility styles are super useful and never date. The Assembly Line Patterns are ideal for this, as are Merchant & Mills and The Maker's Atelier. There are of course lots of other fabulous pattern brands out there just choose patterns that let the fabric sell itself.

Team Lustrous Classic Black with Lustrous Green Ivy for colour blocking.

Other Uses:

Aprons, napkins, table covers, runners, applique, embroidery and so much more!

Great fabric

Great fabric at a great price. I’m making an oversized shirt/jacket and the fabric is so easy to sew.

Pre-shrinking info

Just in case somebody was wondering, I pre-shrunk the fabric on a cotton cycle and 60ºC.
This is how little it shrunk!
Width: 152cm to 150cm (1.3%)
Length: 174cm to 169cm (2.9%)

The fabric is GORGEOUS, such a quality weave; strong, wavy, with body. Great for an A-line skirt!

Great fabric!

This is a lovely fabric with good drape, and it has a subtle sheen rather than being shiny, as it looked on the video, which is good for me.

Fantastic customer service/wonderful fabric

I made an error with my online order, called Fabworks and it was all sorted very quickly and my order was on its way. Really friendly and efficient customer service - thank you! So happy with the quality of this fabric - wonderful feel and drape and amazing value for money. Looking forward to making the Zadie jumpsuit with it.
