Introduction:

This first-rate ex-designer linen & cotton blend sports the lightly textured style of linen and the cool soft handle of cotton, expertly formed in a lightweight Oxford weave using multitonal grape purple and crisp white yarns.

Running Stitch Border as the name suggests, features a running stitch striated appearance and a 2.5cm border on one selvedge (shown in photo 3) giving a simple provincial style that is ideal for use on sleeves, lower hems and other areas of interest within your bespoke sewing projects.

Specifications:

Weight: Light / Medium

GSM: 132

Composition: 58% Cotton  42% Linen

Width: 152.4cm / 60inch (including running stitch border)

Colour:

Running Stitch Border - Lilac has a high thread count of superfine alternating yarns of grape purple and crisp white, which give a depth of colour and a finely striated linen look (not just one flat all-over tone). This expert weave of the two complementary yarns together produces a beautiful washed pastel lilac shade, as scrummy as French macarons!

Properties:

This fabric has all the benefits of both linen and cotton! With the stability and durability of linen and the gentle soft handle of cotton, the high thread count Oxford weave creates a lightweight, sturdy hand with a reassuring drape quality when used at length. The fibres and the weave form a slightly textured yet still soft, lightweight, stable fabric which will allow for neat tucks, pleats and other fine details, as well as gentle feminine gathers.

The close weave of grape and white together resembles a finely sewn running stitch appearance (horizontal). An additional bonus feature of a vertical 2.5cm border sits on one selvedge, allowing for your own creative expression and unique projects.

Garment Suggestions:

Create cool and comfortable summer classics or staple garments for year-round wear. The Running Stitch Border collection is perfect for the whole family, there's something to suit everyone. This fabric is perfect for constructing a host of wardrobe favourites, such as classic shirts and T-shirt style tops, flowing dresses, chic lightweight skirts, breathable summer trousers, pretty blouses and other linen styles.

Suggested sewing patterns: Triple Tuck Smock, Folia Dress, Jenna Shirt, Elodie Dress & Cordelia Trousers.

Other Uses:

Make superb linens for the home: pillow slips, lavender pillows, table runners, table covers, napkins, provincial-style café curtains and aprons too! Add embroidery for individual gifts that are sure to stand the test of time and become heirlooms of the future.

Fabulous fabric

I have now purchased the linen and cotton running stitch border in pale blue, lilac and coral. It washes well with little or no shrinkage, cuts and sews very nicely. So if you are looking for a crisp clean looking fabric for that smart shirt/blouse then this is a fabric well worth considering.

Lovely quality

This washed really well and ironed up nicely. It is easy to work with and has a nice drape with a good weight for skirts or trousers. I used the running stitch border as the hem for my dress and the sleeve hems. Really lovely fabric. I have bought it in the lilac , blue and peach because I liked it so much!
