Composition: Merino & Lambswool

Width: 164cm / 64.6inch

Colour:

This cosy all wool fabric boasts a natural palette of chocolate brown with slight grey undertones and a sprinkling of mid grey yarns across the surface. The reverse of Bear Cub is a cool toned natural beige.

Properties:

Texture: These light to medium-weight wool fabrics are woven from fine, high-quality yarns in a close weave construction, then finished with a lightly brushed surface. The result is a fabric that feels soft and cosy to the touch, warm and comforting, yet never bulky or heavy.

Handle: Cosy wool flannel-type fabrics are naturally stable both widthwise and lengthwise, with a gentle bias ease that makes them ideal for creating softly flared shapes and feminine ruffles.

Drape: These fabrics drape with a soft, fluid elegance, moving effortlessly with the body to create stylish and timeless silhouettes, think of classic wide-legged, pleat-front trousers that flow gracefully as you walk.

Garment Suggestions:

Classic wool flannels are perfect for creating luxurious yet wearable separates and standalone garments. Ideal for softly pleated skirts, elegant dresses, and tailored wide-legged trousers, they bring warmth, refinement, and comfort to everyday and occasion wear alike.

Why choose wool fabric?

Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑

We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?

Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.

Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.

Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.

Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
