Making the most of your Wishlist

Here at Fabworks we genuinely love fabric, and we know a lot of our customers feel the same way. We have been trying to find ways to make it easier ( and more fun) for sewists to browse the huge selection of gorgeous textiles we have on our website, not only enabling them to create a Wishlist of all the fabrics that tempt them, but also to contrast and compare options, create a mood board and decide on best matches for linings or other pieces that will make up an ensemble.

If you have not already discovered the fun you can have with this, let us give you some tips.

Before you start, if you have an account, log in to ensure your Wishlist will be saved between sessions. (Creating an account has other advantages as well, since you can look at all your previous Fabworks orders, by date.) If you are not logged in, your Wishlist lasts only until you end your viewing session.

Firstly, beginning that Wishlist only needs you to click the ‘Add to Wishlist’ icon on the fabric page.

You will see a pop up on the left that tells you it has been added. Note that if you have already put the fabric on your Wishlist (and you might return to browsing and forget you have done so) the ‘add to Wishlist ‘ icon will be greyed out, since you cannot add a fabric twice.

When you want to look at the Wishlist, you click on the ‘heart’ icon on the upper right side of the page. You will then see your Wishlist.

As you can see, five fabrics make one line Wishlist line, and means no scrolling is required when comparing or selecting.

Your Wishlist can be as long as you like, but if it is too extensive you may even get lost within it! You are only going to get a full view of one row on your screen at once, but you could create several connected lines you can scroll through.

You cannot move the position of the fabrics in the Wishlist, and they simply appear top left as you add them, so it pays to think ahead.

If, for example, you want to pick a lining, it is best to select your main fabric third, so the lining options appear on either side.

Sometimes you just want to compare fabrics, so it is best not to pick ‘nice fabric’ at random, but if one is in the ‘wrong’ place, copy the link at the top of the page, click the cross on the fabric in the Wishlist and remove it, and add it again closer to the fabric with which you wish to compare it.

In the example above the Cosy Doeskin Merino Wool in olive is ‘stuck’ between the camel shades. So click on the doeskin and copy the link at the top of its description page, then return to the Wishlist and click the cross to remove it. You then paste the link to its page and select it again for the Wishlist. Bingo, it is now in position as seen below.

Whilst it may seem abit time consuming, it does work

There is one danger with having a Wishlist, and it is that building with the options means you can spend hours playing with ideas, imagining what you can create, so that cup of tea or coffee may go cold.
