Introduction:

Midnight Tropics Twill - Fine Wool Suiting is a first-rate wool and viscose suiting, woven in Italy from the finest quality yarns. This stylish fabric boasts a wonderful handle and comes in a classic navy.

Colour:

Midnight Tropics Twill boasts a classic darkest navy blue hue. Dark and beautiful like the evening sky viewed from a tropical paradise.

Properties:

Midnight Tropics Twill boasts a subtle and lightly textured, none irritant feel, due to the viscose content, and weave of tightly twisted yarns. This lightweight breathable suiting fabric has an amazingly softly fluid drape quality and is resistant to creases! Perfect for warmer climates and seasons where you still have to look smartly attired. The close twill weave, when held to the light, has visible air pockets between the yarns, and it is this strong and clever construction that makes tropical-type suitings perfect for warmer seasons and climates.

Garment suggestions:

Midnight Tropics Twill is perfect for fashioning smart jackets and waistcoats which will look great teamed with classic white shirts, tan brogues and jeans. This clever suiting will of course make the finest suits for stylish gents and ladies. Wide-leg trousers, like The Cordelia Trousers, will create an elegant timeless style akin to Katherine Hepburn's iconic style, adding deep turn-ups for a swishy drape that will make you walk with style. Team with The Pattern Stash's Jemima Waistcoat for a simple but striking suit combo! The use of interlining is recommended for the waistcoat to add structure.

If suit-making isn't your forte, fear not! Put this superb fabric to use for less formal, but equally smart outfits, such as shirt dresses, tunics, pinafore dresses and skirts too. Perfect for shirt-style dresses and shirt-waister styles with a vintage vibe too. The Merchant & Mills Shirt Dress and Trapeze Dress will look stunning in this fabric. There's also a simple drawstring-waist trouser pattern too such as The 101 Trouser, which will work perfectly with Midnight Tropics.

Sew Different's Layer Up patterns are also an excellent choice for loose-flowing tunics to oversized dress choices - the neat Sew Differents - Harvester Pants Pattern are perfect too!

Why choose wool fabric?

Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑

We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?

Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.

Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.

Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.

Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
