Night On The Tiles - Fine Worsted is an expertly woven Italian suiting fabric which was originally made for a renowned British designer. This impeccably woven fine worsted features a classic combination of black and navy superfine yarns which are woven in a wonderful dobby weave tiled design, which emulates a basket weave, parquet style flooring or the carefully tiled terrace of a fine historic hotel. Evoking thoughts of sharply dressed gentlemen of a bygone era, stepping out onto the rain soaked terrace on a dark mysterious night whilst smoking their fine cigars.
Night On The Tiles is stable width and lengthwise and boasts a smooth finely grained texture which feels soft, cool and has the most beautiful drape quality which emphasises the subtle sheen. This handsome beauty will of course make impeccably tailored suits, but of course we know that you can make a host of other wonderful clothing choices from our huge range of fine Italian suiting fabrics.
Use Night On The Tiles to create stylish shirtdresses, classic long length shirt styles or full skirted retro styles. Put this superb fabric to use for less formal, but equally smart outfits, such as tunics, pinafore dresses and skirts too. The Merchant & Mills 'Shirt Dress' and 'Trapeze Dress' will look stunning in this fabric. There's also a simple drawstring-waist trouser pattern too (The 101 Trouser), which will work perfectly with this designer worsted. There are many other patterns available suitable to use with this fabric, think clean simple lines and unfussy cuts!

Why choose wool fabric? Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑
We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?
Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.
Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.
Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.
Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
