Premium Natural Fibres Without The Designer Price Tag

Whether you’re searching for a thoughtful gift, that particular piece to complete an outfit, a timeless wardrobe staple, or simply something beautifully made to elevate your everyday, this article shines a light on one of Fabworks’ most popular seasonal offerings: their natural fibre scarves and throws. In this article, we explore what makes these pieces special—from their carefully sourced origins to their effortless wearability and lasting quality. If you value comfort, craftsmanship, and value for money, this is where you belong.

Fabworks primarily sells high quality woollen fabric, and as a small family-run business based in the heartland of Yorkshire’s historic wool-weaving district, offers superb, quality and value. Having had an online presence for the last decade, during which it has built a reputation for offering quality dressmaking and furnishing fabrics to designers, makers, and discerning clients alike, Fabworks has become a quiet authority in the UK’s textiles scene.

We love beautiful fabric and over many decades have established strong links to the very best woollen cloth weavers, from whom we buy overstock and end-of-line fabrics. These same strong links to the top end manufacturers in the wool-weaving heartland of Yorkshire mean that as winter comes, we can also source a wide selection of luxurious scarves, stoles and throws in the highest quality cashmere, lambswool and merino. After all, scarves are a product of textile manufacture, or vice versa, depending on how you look at it. Here, the same principles of quality and sourcing apply. Each scarf has been selected with the same care as Fabworks’ signature fabrics, with surplus or ‘deadstock’ ensuring that every item is as exclusive as it is beautiful.

The textile mills that produce these accessories for high end designer labels will inevitably have some surplus left over at the end of a season. How much depends upon the retailer’s best guess on the market (and even the weather), and the more accurate they are the smaller the surplus stock will be. Thanks to its long association with the manufacturers, Fabworks is best placed to secure the best quality materials that were originally destined for high end designer collections, which means you can get the quality without the price tag that accompanies the designer label. You do not have to go to Milan, Paris or London for your luxury, nor pay a three figure sum because Fabworks English-made, pure cashmere scarves are only £40.00 each. Added to which, buying surplus stock avoids adding to the awful mountain of textile waste that is thrown away and destroyed each year, which is both wasteful and bad for the planet.

Whether scarves, stoles, socks, gloves or throws, all these items are made in natural fibres - cashmere, lambswool, merino. They are thus breathable, warm without being weighty, and gentler against the skin. Natural fibres also last well, softening with age and wear, becoming ‘old favourites’. We have curated a selection that ranges in colour from subtle pastels to jazzy jewels, earthy naturals to bold brights. The designs are both contemporary and timeless as befits long-lasting fabrics, and means that there is something for every taste, and for both practical warmth and exclusive embellishment. Style your scarf, keep warm and stay looking chic when out in that cold snap, and create hygge in the home with a gorgeous throw that can be neatly rolled or casually cast over the back of a sofa, ready for that relaxing snuggle.

Cashmere is the most highly regarded natural fibre, prized for its warmth, soft handle and longevity—qualities that make it ideal for scarves. Cashmere offers exceptional softness and insulation while remaining incredibly lightweight, with scarves feeling gentle against the skin, and perfect for those who prefer comfort without bulk. Its fine fibres trap heat effectively, yet it naturally regulates temperature to avoid overheating. Unsurprisingly, the most expensive fibre.

Lambswool is similarly valued for its softness and smooth texture. Though slightly more robust than cashmere, it retains a plush feel while offering excellent durability. Lambswool scarves are resilient, making them ideal for regular wear and maintaining their shape and appearance over time. A balance of softness and quality, adding a little luxury to your everyday.

Merino wool, renowned for its performance and comfort has significantly finer fibres and feels smooth against the skin without the itchiness associated with wool from other breeds of sheep. What sets Merino apart is its impressive temperature-regulating ability, making it ideal for year-round wear. A solid staple, merino marries all the good things that natural fibres offer.

Wool and cashmere fibres possess natural breathability and moisture-wicking properties, helping the wearer stay comfortable throughout the day. Well-crafted cashmere, lambswool and merino scarves offer a balance of elegance, practicality, and long-term performance. They don’t just feel luxurious—they’re reliable, insulating, and designed to last. Choosing one is an investment in quality that elevates daily dressing with quiet sophistication.

One of the most compelling things about Fabworks’ scarves is the value they offer. Many luxury cashmere scarves on the market start at well over a hundred pounds, yet Fabworks’ cashmere pieces come in at just £40.00 each. That’s astonishing when you consider that these are made from pure cashmere, sourced from premium manufacturers, and made entirely in England.

That means you’re getting the same natural softness, insulation and craftsmanship that you would expect from designer labels, at a fraction of the price. The savings aren't a reflection of lower quality; rather, they’re a result of Fabworks’ business model and sourcing strategy: repurposing deadstock from luxury manufacturers and passing the cost-efficiency on to you. Because of this, you can indulge in high quality cashmere and lambswool scarves without feeling the guilt of extravagance.

In short, a Fabworks scarf delivers an elegant, durable, and truly premium-feeling accessory at a fraction of the standard retail price. For anyone who values both luxury and sensible spending, it’s a rare and welcome find.

Buying a scarf or throw from Fabworks means investing in something British, something that lasts, and something that only speaks quality, whilst also taking a small but meaningful action towards responsible consumption. You’re supporting the reuse of premium materials that would otherwise go to waste, you’re supporting small independent businesses, you’re supporting the British textile industry and British manufacturing.

If you’re looking for thoughtful style and a little piece of luxury, Fabworks’ range is worth exploring. No fuss, no excess—just well-made essentials designed to be worn, lived with, and appreciated for years.

Lovely autumn colours used in this super soft 100% merino wool infinity scarf bought for a present.

100% Merino Wool Infinity Scarf - Heather Topped Plaid
★★★★★
Gorgeous colours!
Love, love, love this infinity scarf. It complements so many of this Autumn’s colours, with shades of plum, brown and olive/khaki green. Also, fabulous soft merino wool. Not particularly thick, so has a lovely drape,. Twisted it twice to hang loosely around the neck, so envisage using it more as a fashion accessory rather than for practical reasons, but will try twisting it round again so that it keeps me warm in the colder winter months. Tempted to buy this in other colours as well.

Lovely!
Thank you for sending the scarf so quickly. It's absolutely lovely, the colours are bright and striking. I'm pretty obsessed with infinity scarves and up to now have only had the thin summery ones; this one is a much warmer version for winter.
