First impressions of this amazing fabric were: wow! It has a superb molten metallic tone (due to the combination of silvery grey yarns and black forming its clever woven construction).
Woven within this intricate fabric are wonderful textural blister pockets, which give the impression of bubbles forming within hot molten lava. These points of interest elevate a fabric which would otherwise be quite plain. Lava Blister Cloth is the perfect fabric for people who prefer unfussy designs and classic colour combinations but still need some textural detail.
This first-rate quirky one-off fabric is stable width and lengthwise and has a versatile medium weight, with an excellent reassuring drape too.
Making it perfect for a multitude of dressmaking projects; We think Lava Blister Cloth is ideal for dressy coats, perhaps with ruffle or flounce details to the skirt, sleeves or collar. Super smart classic Chanel style suits will make up easily too. Create your own bespoke Chanel trim and utilise the frayed edges, adding a black velvet ribbon will complete the look.
Neat tailored sheath dresses, pencil skirts, and slim fitting cigar pants are all ideal styles to try and will form key pieces with a luxury twist. As this fabric is stable and drapey you can also create garments that incorporate fit and flared or drape details too. Think 1950s style dresses also skater styles and when gathered this fabric produces excellent fullness and body.
Fabrics with medium weight, stability and drape are extremely versatile so let your imagination loose and use Lava Blister Cloth for your wonderful creations!
