Introduction:

Trade Route Stripe is a first-rate, horizontally striped, woven (not printed) silken dress weight fabric has so many plus points you will certainly make a statement whatever you fashion from it.

Colour:

Let us take you on a journey with our Trade Route Stripe and to the spice routes of antiquity where you will see a selection of colours and tones to make your mouth water. Setting the scene (the broadest stripes) is a spicey golden ochre hue the collective colour of spiced madras, cumin and turmeric followed by repeating stripes of darkest purple aubergine, flanked and accentuated by a precious blue like the pale glazed blue in ottoman tiles.

Properties:

Trade Route Stripe has the cool absorbent, breathable feel of silken viscose and the fluid-heavy drape quality of a medium-weight viscose fabric with excellent stability and durability plus the added benefits of pure silk, strength, lustre and breathability. A classic superfine twill weave elevates this richly hued fabric- this is woven- not printed and is super chic!

Garment Suggestions:

Make a design statement with this boldly striped fabric of antiquated elegance and create a show-stopping '80s style double-breasted oversized blazer suit. Wear with a neat pencil skirt or wide-legged trousers. Our Pattern Stash Amelia Skirt and Cordelia Trousers are just the ticket. Wear with a coordinating plum silk shirt for the evening or a clean crisp white or pale blue shirt for a commanding day-wear look. extend the power dressing theme into double-breasted coat dress styles with opulent brass buttons for added impact.

If semi-tailored styles are not for you then create easy-to-wear and easy-to-make elasticated palazzo trousers and long-line overshirts worn with simple camisoles of a solid colour. Create the swishest pleated skirt (with the stripes used vertically) pleating to the stripes and add a luxury wide lurex elastic waistband in rich plum/aubergine or golden ochre for instant style- perfect for day-to-evening looks!

NB: this fabric is woven with horizontal stripes therefore consideration will be needed when working out your fabric meterage for pattern layout.
