Introduction:
Precious Emerald is a fabulous designer deadstock fabric. Originally used to create super stylish women's wear, worn by celebrities with a snappy sense of style. Wool gaberdine and serge fabrics are perennial favourites for creating smart, stylish and hard-wearing apparel. Read on for more qualities, hints and styling tips on how to create your own bespoke classics.
Colour:
Precious Emerald is just as its name suggests, a colour-infused emerald green tone, super stylish and full of life and sure to get you noticed.
Properties:
Precious Emerald is meticulously woven from a high thread count of lustrous virgin wool yarns, which are twisted to produce extra density and strength in the fabric. The close twill-woven construction thus produces a medium-weight fabric that is stable, has a reassuring drape quality, and is more resistant to water and soil. Apparel made in this quality fabric will be well worth the effort of paying attention to detail.
Garment Suggestions:
Precious Emerald is perfect for creating eye-catching, hard-wearing pieces for your bespoke wardrobe. A plethora of coat and jacket styles from tailored blazers to trench coats and cape-coat styles. Why not jump on board the boiler suit worker clothing/utility trend and create a hard-wearing, stylish and warm piece of clothing you can dress up or dress down? Merchant and Mills - The Thelma boiler suit is a perfect style as are overshirts, shackets, bomber jackets etc.
The Ilford Jacket from Friday Pattern Co and the Sienna Maker Jacket from Closet Core Patterns are also excellent similar styles. We love The Avid Seamstress' The Blazer for a great introduction to soft tailoring. Create catwalk-worthy, sharp silhouettes from this Ex-Designer Virgin Wool Gaberdine and steal the show!
