Shibori Blocks - Linen and Cotton is a superb linen and cotton blend fabric featuring fabulous indigo on white design, based on the Japanese Shibori resist dye method. This printed design has a wonderfully authentic hand-dyed style. The Shibori method uses wood blocks of various shapes placed within carefully folded and pressed fabric then dyed to produce a pattern of stunning repeating blocks. Traditionally created in white and indigo dyes this method can be costly and time-consuming to produce. So this printed version has all the hard work done for you, all you have to do is decide what to make.

This excellent combination of darkest indigo navy hues and white is perfect for easily pulled together outfits. Using these classic tones with mixed separates in red white and blue plus your Shibori Blocks will make a workable capsule wardrobe perfect for the holiday season and beyond.

This natural fibre blend (with the authentic rustic look of linen) makes this beauty strong yet breathable and kind to sensitive skin. Shibori Blocks has a stable width and lengthwise handle with a reassuring drape quality too. Put this fabulous fabric to use for fit & flare dresses, tulip skirts, pencil skirts, box pleat skirts, simple A-line dresses and skirts, shirt dresses, lightweight jackets and blazers, tunics and kurta style dresses, simple boxy tops and stylish Lagenlook pieces (think Gudrun Sjoden) Scandi style fashion for super comfy and stylish looks. Vogue Patterns V1672 is an elegant wrap bodice dress with a gently flared skirt - perfect for wearing through spring and summer and layering up into autumn. If trousers are more your style, the Zadie Jumpsuit by Paper Theory Patterns has similar lines to V1672.

Utility styles are super useful and never date, The Assembly Line Patterns are ideal for utility styles as are Merchant & Mills and The Makers Atelier.  There are of course lots of other fabulous pattern brands out there just choose patterns that let the fabric sell itself.

Excited to start sewing with shibori

I am very pleased with the fabric. It is excellent quality and a robust texture which helps in accurate sewing! Most of all I love the dark colour. I have experimented with shibori dying but failed to get such an intense blue. Service was speedy and excellent as always. It's reassuring to know your fabrics on line have never been a disappointment. Thank you.
