Specifications:

Weight: Light

GSM: 127

Composition: 100% Polyester

Width: 152.4cm / 60inch

Pattern repeat: 32cm / 12.5inch

Colour:

Amazon Days boasts a deeply dark and verdant solid green hue like the depths of the Amazonian Rain Forest. This serious blue-based dark green has a captivating jewel-like quality and always looks smart.

Properties:

Finely woven from polyester yarns in a clever jacquard weave which combines areas of its floral and foliage design boasting a lightly textured twill and the background oozes style with its immaculate silken sateen weave catching the light spectacularly. The contrast in texture creates lighter and darker tones detailing the Amazonian rainforest design of lush Monstera leaves, orchids and palms.

NB: jacquard woven fabrics generally have the design featured in a semi-matte weave and the background respectively features a silken sateen weave. Reversing the fabric will have the opposite effect.

Garment Suggestions:

Create a range of sophisticated occasion-wear apparel from classic shirts and blouses to more dramatic-styled, full-sleeved and bow-tied styles. Extend this into full-skirted dresses: pleated, gathered and tiered or simply bias cut and gored below the waist. For something simpler and equally stylish consider, bias cut slip dresses with a nod to '90s styles.

Recreate the power-dressed styles of the '80s with dramatic shouldered shirt dresses and jumpsuits or two-piece suits with wide-legged and full-pleated front trousers and matching blazers. Team with a matte dark green crepe and use Amazon Days on the lapels for a classic Tuxedo style Blazer.

What a Joy!

This fabric ticked every box for me. Lovely weight and handle; beautiful colour; interesting weave. It all adds up to a touch of glamour which is exactly what I was looking for. I have a pattern that I've used before that suits me as an older 'bird'. It is Vogue V1576 by Tom and Linda Platt. This fabric lends itself well to this pattern. The dress came together quickly and hey presto! it looked good. I wore it with a pair of semi-glam shoes with a 6cm stack heel and danced the night away. Thank you Fabworks for lovely fabric and excellent service.

Avoca Deadstock Fabrics

Explore all Avoca surplus fabrics

Fabworks x Avoca

Fabworks’ association with Avoca began in 2011, when Fabworks Mill Shop was only a fraction of what it is today, and way before Fabworks Online existed. We were approached by Avoca with an offer to buy their surplus fabric from the previous seasons' collections. What an opportunity! A deal was struck, and what arrived at our warehouse a few weeks later was the most amazing selection of Irish-made pure wool fabrics, plus all the accessorising elements within the Avoca ladieswear collection (elaborate trimmings, gorgeous embroidered silks, lightweight satins, Liberty jerseys) and the cherry on top of the cake – Irish-made Donegal Tweed!

The working relationship between Fabworks and Avoca blossomed over the next few years and allowed Fabworks to develop its focus on high end ladies’ dressmaking fabrics and away from the lower end of the textiles market.

Four years and several thousand metres of fabric later, Fabworks took a bigger step than ever before, and collaborated with Avoca to commission its own range of Irish-made pure wool fabrics which marked the launch of Fabworks Online, November 16th 2015. This was a defining moment for Fabworks, being the very first collection of fabrics that we commissioned ourselves. With a range of herringbones in iconic Avoca colour-rich palettes, this was Fabworks’ first taste of proper manufacturing in the 21st century.
