Heron Flight – Birdseye is an all wool birdseye weave from the Valley Mist collection, one of our very special exclusive Heart of Huddersfield wools.

There are five sumptuous yarns that make up this gorgeous birdseye weave. Pale marled grey, charcoal and natural white yarns sit together to form the warp, which appears consistently throughout all the Heart of Huddersfield birdseye fabrics. This is like the fabric’s base layer or it’s foundation – hover over the photographs for a close-up of this colour detailing. The weft yarns are the bespoke colours that bring the fabric to life, unique to each colourway. The weft of Heron Flight features two delicious multi tonal yarns of misty blue-green and a natural off-white. Combining these five yarns creates mesmerising depth within this complex and unique weave.

This stunning wool tweed is our interpretation of the flight of a heron crossing the Holme Valley landscape, a palette of delicate blue-green and grey hues with highlights of natural white give the look of a low mist sitting on the hillside, calming and an easy on the eye. If you love the soft delicate tones of this stunning 100% wool, match it with other Valley Mist wools for a complementary palette.

This closely woven woollen has a versatile medium weight and a traditional wool feel, without being rough or itchy. Boasting a stable handle and reassuring drape, Heron Flight is perfect for a plethora of sewing room projects. An intricately woven fabric that will do as you tell it. Woollen fabrics of this kind are easy to sew and will stand the test of time.

A special mention to the Lush Mint – Grey Herringbone to emphasise the green hues.

Did you know? The birdseye weave takes its name from the small oval shape within the weave, resembling the shape of an actual bird’s eye. This is an outstanding and unique weave that gives a detailed and eye-catching design using subtle combinations of yarn. Sometimes people describe this weave as having an ovular honeycomb-like design.
