Colour:

A classic black base is adorned and embellished with the cutest sweet polka dots in a vintage pink / salmon hue that's so retro. This darling combination is perfect for a wide range of apparel. polka dots are always timeless and this vintage pink and classic black combo is perfect.

Properties:

Midnight Salmon Polka is a finely woven lightweight polyester satin boasting a super soft silky feel and subtle sheen you would be forgiven for thinking this was silk. The addition of lightly flocked polka dots creates a pleasing, lightly textured feel.

This first-rate satin has a soft and malleable hand that is stable width and lengthwise and as you would expect from quality satin, does of course boast a delicious drape. All you have to decide now is what to make.

NB: please take care when ironing this fabric (only on reverse suggested) as the flocked polka dots may be affected by ironing on a high temperature. This fabric does not crease excessively so a cool iron should be sufficient.

Garment Suggestions:

This satin will make stunning occasion wear pieces; dresses with softly draped & gathered details, bow-tie blouses & dresses, cowl necked shift dresses, simple Dolman sleeve tops, and quick-make slashed-neck scarf style tops will all add a hint of luxury to simple jeans and top outfits. How about a '90s bias-cut slip dress?

Take this elegant wonder and create dramatic '70s-inspired puffed full-sleeve shirts with deep cuffs and matching cover buttons. Extend this style into gathered tiered-skirted dresses and wear with statement boots for a fabulous A/W occasion wear piece.

Spoil yourself or someone special and create stylish and sumptuous traditional pyjamas with coordinating piped collars and pocket tops. Or the prettiest camisole and shorts set with coordinating pink lace and matching kimono robe. Make statement waistcoat backs.

Create simple cravats, scarves, headbands and luxe accessories to match.

Avoca Deadstock Fabrics

Explore all Avoca surplus fabrics

Fabworks x Avoca

Fabworks’ association with Avoca began in 2011, when Fabworks Mill Shop was only a fraction of what it is today, and way before Fabworks Online existed. We were approached by Avoca with an offer to buy their surplus fabric from the previous seasons' collections. What an opportunity! A deal was struck, and what arrived at our warehouse a few weeks later was the most amazing selection of Irish-made pure wool fabrics, plus all the accessorising elements within the Avoca ladieswear collection (elaborate trimmings, gorgeous embroidered silks, lightweight satins, Liberty jerseys) and the cherry on top of the cake – Irish-made Donegal Tweed!

The working relationship between Fabworks and Avoca blossomed over the next few years and allowed Fabworks to develop its focus on high end ladies’ dressmaking fabrics and away from the lower end of the textiles market.

Four years and several thousand metres of fabric later, Fabworks took a bigger step than ever before, and collaborated with Avoca to commission its own range of Irish-made pure wool fabrics which marked the launch of Fabworks Online, November 16th 2015. This was a defining moment for Fabworks, being the very first collection of fabrics that we commissioned ourselves. With a range of herringbones in iconic Avoca colour-rich palettes, this was Fabworks’ first taste of proper manufacturing in the 21st century.
