Specifications:

Weight: Light

GSM:  260

Composition: Wool & Polyester

Width: 156cm / 61.4inch

Pattern Repeat: 0.4cm x 0.3cm / 0.15inch x 0.1inch

Colour:

Shade: Timeless, monotone, black perfectly contrasting with white!

Design: A classic micro houndstooth weave, named for the staggered twill micro-checks that resemble dogs’ teeth.

Style: Classic, timeless, smart. This super two-toned fabric has been a fashion favourite for decades. The monotone tessellated design was once seen as a status symbol for the upper classes, marking their arrival on the style scene. Christian Dior was one of the first to popularise this iconic pattern when his Spring/Summer designs hit the runway in 1948. Since then, this classic has been favoured by top designers from McQueen to Gucci.

Properties:

Texture: This finely woven, blazer-weight wool blend has a pleasingly soft, non-itchy feel, typical of high-quality suiting wool. The polyester content adds an easy-wear, easy-care quality.

Handle: Mono Puppy Tooth is stable both across the width and down the length. A natural bias ease and light-medium weight make this fabric a great all-rounder that will make sewing a dream.

Drape: A soft and reassuringly weighty drape will be achieved when using this fabric en masse. It forms neat pleats, tucks and elegant ruffles with excellent body.

Garment Suggestions:

Types: Perfect for classic suiting garments, think tailored separates, blazers, wide-legged trousers, and skirt suits. Also ideal for retro-inspired designs and vintage-style pieces.

Patterns: Some of our favourite patterns to consider are the Cordelia Trousers, the Ilford Jacket, the Amelia Skirt, The Coat, The Blazer, or the Belvedere Waistcoat and the Jemima Waistcoat for a modern heritage twist.

Other Uses:

Accessories: Perfect for creating timeless, structured pieces such as tote bags, shoulder bags, laptop sleeves, belts, caps and hats. This sharp micro-check adds graphic interest while maintaining a refined, understated finish.

Furnishings: Although primarily a garment fabric, Mono Puppy Tooth can also be used for stylish, tailored home accents. Consider cushion covers, boxed-edge seat pads, blind trims and draught excluders. Ideal where a crisp, uniform-inspired aesthetic is desired.

Upcycling: Ideal for scrap-friendly projects like appliqué, patchwork or textile art. Offcuts can be transformed into contrast panels for garments, or used to create characterful soft furnishings, think fabric trays, coasters, or classic pieces like Scottie dogs, teddy bears and dachshund draught excluders.
