Introduction:

Blue Nile - Stretch Matte Satin is a deliciously tactile Charmeuse/sand-washed-like chamois satin with the added benefit of subtle stretch. This ex-designer deadstock oozes class. Read on for all its virtues plus suggestions for what to create.

Colour:

As its name suggests Blue Nile is the most jewel-like Lapis blue/cobalt hue. a precious colour adored by ancient Egyptian royalty and prized by the Great Masters when creating the paints and pigments that were used in artistic iconography like Vermeers - The Girl With The Pearl Earring. Use this legendary-hued fabric to create your own masterpieces.

Properties:

Blue Nile has the look and feel of silk satin with a lustre, like the flattering glow of youthful skin. The silky smooth fabric is so tactile wearing it will make you feel instantly glamourous.  A fluid drape quality creates dramatic depth where the luscious folds retreat from light into the dark. Stable lengthwise and with just the perfect amount of stretch across the width allows for slim-fitting silhouettes.

Garment Suggestions:

Perfect for a wide range of indulgent apparel and occasion wear from classic satin shirts and tie-bow blouses to dramatic gowns and bridesmaid dresses!

Blue Nile is also the perfect choice for garments that require a comfortable stretch, plus an element of drape, such as lingerie and luxe loungewear.

Build a trousseau of beautiful separates from French knickers, camisole slips, Pyjamas and robes to more extravagant Kimono styles with embroidered details or ready-made appliques. Add a touch of black lace for drama and your garments will look like a million dollars.

Perfectly placed alongside intricate embroidery and beading, use this fabric to create stand-alone pieces or pair it with a lace or velvet bodice in the same shade.
