Colour:
Jetty is woven from a cool and calming palette of storm grey, sea shore-inspired yarns, with classic charm as appropriate for modern fashions as timeless pieces. This Irish woven tweed fabric paints a picture in the mind of protective grey stone jetties creating a safe harbour along the seashore, whilst crashing waves create white sea foam clusters along the sand.
The cosy lambswool yards of sand beige and sea foam white are woven alongside the grounding grey yarn in groups of intersecting horizontal and vertical bands, surrounding and featuring blocks of houndstooth design for the perfect Jetty fabric.
Properties:
This immaculately woven Irish tweed is created from medium gauge lambswool yarns to produce a medium-weight, classic cosy tweed fabric that's stable and hardwearing with gentle bias ease, yet malleable and boasting a heavy drape quality.
Lightly brushed for a soft and cosy finish, this overcoat and winter jackets, separates weight fabric will keep the cold weather elements out and warm you up with natural and breathable warmth that can only be lambswool.
Garment Suggestions:
This eye-catching tweed style fabric is perfect for country styles with a twist; jackets, coats, and waistcoats like The Pattern Stash's Jemima Waistcoat. Add neat pencil skirts, smart pinafore dresses and classic shift dresses. Team up with knitted vests, chunky wool tights, classic tan boots or the perfect pair of brogues and you will have the most versatile cosy and stylish A/W wardrobe staple.
British styling is a hot trend that will never date. Alternatively, look to the Classic French Couture styles with bespoke velvet and frayed edge trims - add pearl or metallic gold buttons to complete the look. We think Jetty is perfect for a wide range of classic styles from Worker Jackets to coats, peacoats, bomber jackets, shackets, gilets etc will all look superb in this quality Irish woollen fabric.
Other Uses:
Hats, caps, bags and matching accessories are also perfect for reassuringly warm, throws and blankets, loose cushion covers and light-wear soft furnishings.

Fabworks x Avoca
Fabworks’ association with Avoca began in 2011, when Fabworks Mill Shop was only a fraction of what it is today, and way before Fabworks Online existed. We were approached by Avoca with an offer to buy their surplus fabric from the previous seasons' collections. What an opportunity! A deal was struck, and what arrived at our warehouse a few weeks later was the most amazing selection of Irish-made pure wool fabrics, plus all the accessorising elements within the Avoca ladieswear collection (elaborate trimmings, gorgeous embroidered silks, lightweight satins, Liberty jerseys) and the cherry on top of the cake – Irish-made Donegal Tweed!
The working relationship between Fabworks and Avoca blossomed over the next few years and allowed Fabworks to develop its focus on high end ladies’ dressmaking fabrics and away from the lower end of the textiles market.
Four years and several thousand metres of fabric later, Fabworks took a bigger step than ever before, and collaborated with Avoca to commission its own range of Irish-made pure wool fabrics which marked the launch of Fabworks Online, November 16th 2015. This was a defining moment for Fabworks, being the very first collection of fabrics that we commissioned ourselves. With a range of herringbones in iconic Avoca colour-rich palettes, this was Fabworks’ first taste of proper manufacturing in the 21st century.
