Colour:

100% Linen - Best Blues Melange is just as its name suggests a fabulously soft, cool, breathable linen blend fabric, woven in a classic flat weave with strong yet silken flax-hued linen yarns throughout the warp. A combination of the Best Blues are woven alternately through the weft.

The combination of soft sky blue alternating with rich kingfisher/teal set against the flax warp produces a very pleasing washed denim blue that's just the perfect combination of practicality and style.

Properties:

Linen has been used for centuries because of its beneficial properties; cool and breathable, gets softer with washing & wear and linen is impervious to moths and resists dirt and stains. Linen will not form lint or pill and can be washed at high temperatures with only moderate shrinkage.

The characteristic slubs (once viewed as a fault) are now part of the aesthetic appeal of quality linen fabric. It is stable, soft and has the feel of a favourite linen garment with a pre-washed hand. This medium-weight fabric is closely woven with an almost half panama basket woven style and has excellent stability with a heavy drape quality.

Garment Suggestions:

Best Blues Melange will form crisp details (with a little light interfacing), on collars, cuffs and waistbands. Used in quantity it will form soft and full feminine gathers, with a reassuring drape, plus neat pleats. Perfect for utility-style clothing such as The Ilford Jacket. All you have to do is decide what to make.

The Layer Up Collection by Sew Different is ideal for creating a capsule wardrobe of fresh spring-summer linen and ( linen blend) makes you will want to take through into autumn.
