Fabworks 'Pick' of Wools
Fun Fact: Did you know?
In weaving, a pick is the name for each time the shuttle carries the weft thread across the loom. Every little journey of that shuttle counts as one pick. If you take a ruler to your fabric and count how many of those weft threads (picks) sit in just one inch, you’ve got your picks per inch or ppi for short.
So why does it matter? Well, ppi has a big say in how your fabric behaves. A higher ppi gives you a closer, sturdier weave (think crisp shirtings or hard-wearing tweeds), while fewer picks per inch mean a softer, looser cloth with more drape and texture. It’s one of those clever little details that makes all the difference in the fabrics you love.
