Why is Fabworks so unique?

90% of the fabrics on sale at Fabworks are limited in availability; this is because most of our fabrics are deadstock and end-of-line from factories, never to be manufactured again. We save it from going to landfill, which not only is sustainable and eco-friendly but the changing variety is only part of the attraction of Fabworks! Who knows what we will be bringing you next year!

Fabworks Mill Shop supplies an extensive range of fabrics for all occasions, covering 5,000 square feet with every range of fabric from soft furnishings and accessories, through to dressmaking, linens, wools, shirtings, leather and all sorts of haberdashery supplies, including a fully stocked Gutermann thread stand and a Habico haberdashery stand. This is then again repeated upstairs where we hold all of our website stock.

With close links to many of the local and also not so local Universities and Colleges, we pride ourselves on the fact that we're supporting and helping future generations of Fashion Designers, Costumiers, Artists and Makers, etc.

More than half of the floor space at Fabworks Mill Shop consists of dressmaking fabric; dive into the old wicker baskets to rummage for bargains, browse the hundreds of shirting cottons for blouse, dress and shirt inspiration, warm up with the cosy woollens and much more. Try some quick and easy makes with our jersey fabrics or wander into the section of beautiful designer linings and fine occasion wear fabrics.

If you're visiting to browse the soft furnishings, take your pick from hundreds of curtaining and upholstery fabrics all of which are in-stock and available on the day you visit.

If we don't stock just what you're looking for there are a range of books from a variety of companies, such as Prestigious Textiles, Edinburgh Weavers, Rioma Textiles and Casa Deco, all available to view in store.

Exclusive to Fabworks, we've created The Pattern Stash, our own line of sewing patterns, alongside our very own collection of wool exclusive fabrics The Heart of Huddersfield, that are woven locally in West Yorkshire.
