Introduction:

Granite Grey Nailhead - Virgin Wool Blend Flannel is suitable for a wide range of seriously smart or smart/casual clothing, depending on the patterns and styles you choose to create, and has a designer pedigree. Made by Turkish craftsmen for the same designer as our SOS Collection, it's equally stunning and perfect for cross-seasonal wear - after all, wool is naturally temperature-regulating!

Colour:

Granite Grey is a classic combination of alternating multi-tonal granite grey and classic black producing a smart style that can easily be dressed up or down.

Try this fabric is in a lovely navy teal colourway: Navy Teal Nailhead.

Properties:

Granite Grey Nailhead is woven from 80% Virgin Wool & 20% Polyester blend fine yarns in a classic nailhead/Oxford weave. This weave is similar to a basket weave and resembles tiny square nail heads arranged in repeating.

This expertly woven cosy wool flannel suiting fabric is stable and strong and boasts a medium-weight drape with a subtle sheen,(like the coat of a thoroughbred) which catches the light and begs to be used for elegant everyday attire - after all... suiting is not just for suits! rows.

Garment Suggestions:

Why use cotton flannel when you can snuggle into this temperature-regulating predominantly wool fabric? Use Granite Grey Nailhead for super-smart work attire, wide-legged Katherine Hepburn style trousers, culottes and classic pleat-fronted trousers, neat pencil skirts, dresses and fit & flare dresses.

Utilise the excellent drape quality and add feminine ruffle details to your skirts and dresses; peplums and fishtail hemlines - perfect on '50s style wiggle dresses. Neat shift dresses and pinafores will become key workwear pieces made in this flawless fabric.

Update this classic for smart casual styles you can dress up or dress down: sports luxe styles, bomber and Harrington style jackets with gleaming zips and stud details. Create cosy utility-style boiler suits, over-shirts, shirt dresses or blouson jackets with a retro vibe, this first-rate fabric will make really neat and sharp details for pocket flaps, collars and cuffs.

Why choose wool fabric? Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑

We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?

Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.

Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.

Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.

Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
