Introduction:
A modern take on suiting, this very different and cleverly woven med/heavy suit-weight fabric has a wonderful texture that is almost double crepe-like, making it very versatile and suitable for a host of super chic styles.
Colour:
Garnet Red has a deep autumnal hue and is the darkest red rouge tones of its namesake, like the textured dark deep colour with depth like the facetted gemstone.
Properties:
Garnet Red is woven from a clever blend of viscose & polyester fibres and a touch of elastane that creates a fabric with all the best attributes. A bounce-back stretch on both the length and width makes it ideal for super smart slim-fitting styles, from dresses to blazers & more.
The viscose content produces a lovely reassuring heavy drape quality that will give softer and fuller silhouettes. Combined with hard-wearing added synthetic fibres, this fabric is durable and hard-working for a variety of regular-wear styles. There are a host of possibilities from this wonderfully textured waffle piqué fabric that also has excellent resistance to creasing!

Garnet Red will make the smartest suits with neat blazers (The Blazer - The Avid Seamstress) and slimline super comfy trousers, body-skimming pencil skirts and princess seamed dresses, fit & flare styles from gently flared A-line skirts to peplum and ruffle styles, too.

I love this fabric! I made a pair of 1940s inspired high waisted trousers and I absolutely love them. The texture gives the fabric a nice weight and drape, but it's still easy to work with and handle. The trousers fit really nicely because of the stretch. I was worried the weight wouldn't be enough for trousers, but it works well.
When sewing this fabric, be careful you don't snag threads and best to use a new needle and sharp pins.
Super fast delivery, good value for money. I love the colour, sewed up really well; made trousers, top and dress.
Garnet as we know is a semi precious stone. And this fabric echos those precious materials. It’s a high quality weave, with a bit of stretch in all directions; but not so much it’s pulling.
It was perfect fort project but the finish really would make a lovely jacket.
