This excellent and hard-wearing cotton blend checked twill fabric was woven in Italy, originally produced for a top British designers. Uptown Check is woven with a beautiful combination of complimentary tones - matte black, grey and rich wine coloured yarns form the basis of the small checked background, which has an intense depth of colour that's quite serious in style.
The addition of an accent coloured overcheck in a silky royal blue yarn adds the finishing flourish to this super smart cotton blend medium weight cloth. The royal blue overcheck displays a subtle silky sheen that looks like its almost lit from behind, reminding us of the electric town maps with little lights pinpointing places of interest (akin to maps of the underground).
Uptown Check boasts a super stable and sturdy handle, durable close weave construction and reassuringly heavy & soft drape quality. Put this seriously smart alternative to wool twill, to use for jackets, coats and waistcoats. Neat skirts and pinafore dresses, hard-wearing trousers and dungarees. Make Viv Westwood style tucked and draped skirts and dresses or classic pleated skirts. This fabric is easy to sew and will make a wide range of sewing room projects. Ideal also for bag making, hats, caps and soft furnishings too.
