Considerable Wool - Coating is a truly hard-wearing and hardworking wool blend fabric. Its 70% wool content really is considerable wool - the added fibres providing extra strength and durability. This closely woven small herringbone weave is felted to give it a dense and softly brushed quality and the feel of a duffle type coating fabric.
Using yarns with an earthy and natural palette, the colour of ancient tree bark, this fabric has dusty ash undertones. Considerable Wool is supremely warm and will mix and match perfectly with rough spun wool tweeds and other country clothing fabrics.
Boasting a super sturdy and stable handle, this wool-blend coating has a traditional felted wool feel and a heavy drape quality. Hard-wearing field coats and jackets made up in Considerable Wool will team up perfectly with country tweeds. Traditional duffel coats and overcoats are of course the perfect garment to make from this sturdy fabric. Don't forget to add horn-type toggles or leather type buttons for a traditional and authentic finish.
This heavy fabric is ideal for donkey jacket styles with leather yokes. Team your garments up with weathered tan leather for a superb combination.
Historical costume makers and reenactors; this natural-toned fabric is perfect for a profusion of hard-wearing costumes!
If clothes making isn't your forte, use Considerable Wool for upholstery and soft furnishing projects such as seat pads, boxed cushions and footstools. You could also appliqué with rustic country tweeds and leathers for a very rural/gentlemen's club vibe!
Note that this fabric is not a melton however it does have many properties that you would find in a good melton fabric, only with a coarser finish.
