Introduction:
We acquired this wonderful by-product from our Yorkshire Wool tweeds, knowing it was just too good to let it go to waste.
These colourful textured wonders form an integral part of the construction of the fabric, providing a stable edge to the fabrics whilst being woven, they are cut off the fabric before it goes to the finishers.
Our fabric expert Dawn, has a magpie’s eye for beautiful textiles and noticed a myriad of coloured yarns artfully woven in these useful selvedge trims.
This collection of selvedges all contain a mixture of yarn combinations to the centre band consisting of rust, red, grey, blue & brown. The complementary hues that give the impression of a woven braid. Forming a double-sided fringed trim with a similar style to the bespoke trim one would find on a French couture jacket.
Other Uses:
Ideal uses include adding raw edges to your garments, creating rag rugs or incorporating them into textile makes.
Disclaimer: This trim is raw with an open, unfinished wool meaning there are loose fibres which may be irritable to those with allergies.
Our Yorkshire Wool Selvedge's are sold in half-metres for 50p, to order 2 metres simply add 4 units to your basket.
