Introduction:
Rose Garden Picnic Plaid is a superb medium/heavyweight 100% all wool twill with a super soft, felted Melton feel.
Colour:
Rose Garden is woven in an uplifting palette with complementary pale rose pink and bright emerald green outlined by classic black. The neatly squared design evokes memories of the neatly mowed lawns of formal park gardens with flowerbeds full of delicate pink roses, framed by black painted Victorian railings.
Properties:
This cosy and hard-wearing 'picnic blanket' style woollen is perfect for taking on teddy bears picnics but will make the most superb winter coats/coatigans and jackets. The bright and cheerful green brings a lively pop to this superb wool plaid.
Garment Suggestions:
Rose Garden has so many redeeming features, use the accent colours to coordinate with plain fabrics that'll make simply stunning outerwear you can team with key pieces within your wardrobe.
This close-weave woollen has a versatile medium/heavyweight and has the feel of super soft, lightly brushed wool melton, on both sides and is reversible. Boasting a stable, dense handle that also drapes reassuringly perfect for enveloping yourself in on cold A/W days, or for taking the chill off throughout spring. The ideal fabric for a plethora of sewing room projects.
Stylish overcoats, pea coats and jackets/shackets (overshirts to those who aren't familiar with the term) made up in Rose Garden will become long term favourites. Traditional unlined duffel coats are of course the perfect garment to make from this quality woollen thanks to its reversibility- there's no need to line this fabric (as in traditional duffel coats). We think this uplifting super softy will make the cutest children's coats and jackets. Use your scraps to create colourful neck warmers, hats, caps, and bags.

Benefits of sewing with Wool! 🐑
We love wonderful wool! Why? Because it looks beautiful, well yes but did you know wool has a series of superpowers that make it the most incredible natural fibre, suitable for more garment suggestions and sewing inspiration than possibly any other?
Wool has a unique naturally crimped 3D structure which attributes to some brilliant properties & makes it a great fabric to wear throughout all the seasons.
Naturally Breathable: This amazing 3D crimped structure promotes air circulation allowing air to pass through the fabric, allowing for circulation and ventilation for your skin to breathe, keeping you cool.
Shower Resistant: Sheep naturally produce a waxy substance called lanolin. As sheep live outdoors, this naturally occurring wax helps to protect sheep from the elements, naturally shedding water & keeping them dry. This same property is retained within the wool fibres when spun into yarn.
Moisture Absorbing: The moisture-retentive superpowers of wool! It’s hydrophilic core gives wool the ability to wick away moisture keeping you dry and comfortable – this possibly one of our favourite properties because you can stay fresh when wearing wool, from autumn right through to spring!
